Review/Compliance suite (legal texts + CMP)/No. 2 of 10
iubenda review
Milan-based compliance suite that generates policies and terms, runs a consent banner and offers a free privacy scanner.
In this article
iubenda is a Milan company within the team.blue group whose suite revolves around generated legal documents. The privacy and cookie policy generator draws on more than 2,400 clauses in 27 languages, and from the Advanced plan a terms and conditions generator is added. Its Privacy Controls and Cookie Solution provides the consent banner, with cookie scanning, prior blocking and consent records. A free Privacy Scanner checks a URL for a privacy policy, cookie policy, cookie banner and terms and sends the report by e-mail. The free plan stops at 5,000 page views a month, and paid plans begin at €4.99 per site per month on yearly billing.
01In detail
Founded in Milan in 2011 as iubenda S.r.l., the company now belongs to team.blue, the Belgian hosting group, which through iubenda also owns CookieFirst and consentmanager. The product line serves three needs: drafting the documents a website requires, collecting consent, and keeping a record of it.
Policies are assembled from more than 2,400 clauses in 27 languages, which the vendor revises when the law changes. From the Advanced plan there is also a terms and conditions generator with more than 100 clauses. The consent side, Privacy Controls and Cookie Solution, scans for cookies, pixels and trackers, holds them back until consent and logs consent in real time, with support for IAB TCF and Google Consent Mode v2. Essentials and Advanced scan monthly; Ultimate scans hourly and alerts instantly; on the free plan, scans are described as “not guaranteed”. Proof of consent collected through forms goes into a separate Consent Database, and an accessibility widget can be bought as an add-on.
The free Privacy Scanner needs only a URL. It looks for a privacy policy, a cookie policy, a cookie banner and terms, measured against the GDPR, the ePrivacy rules and several laws outside the EU, and e-mails a report with suggestions. Imprints, e-shop duties such as withdrawal information, and HTTPS are outside its scope.
Each website is priced separately. On the free plan the banner switches off once 5,000 page views have been used in a month, until the month ends. Essentials is €4.99 per site per month on yearly billing (€5.99 monthly) and includes 25,000 page views; Advanced is €19.99 (€21.99 monthly) and Ultimate €79.99 (€89.99 monthly). iubenda’s pages disagree with each other: the pricing page says prices are net of VAT while the pricing FAQ says VAT is included where applicable, and the overage fee appears as €0.05 on one page and $0.06 per 1,000 page views on another. A 14-day money-back guarantee is offered.
If you need to create missing documents and a consent banner in many languages from one account, iubenda is the strongest option.

05Pros and cons
What we like
- The free Privacy Scanner works from a URL alone and reports by e-mail on the privacy policy, cookie policy, cookie banner and terms
- More than 2,400 policy clauses in 27 languages, kept up to date by the vendor
- A free plan with up to 5,000 page views a month, Google Consent Mode included
- Essentials starts at €4.99 per site per month on yearly billing, or €5.99 billed monthly
- Monthly scans on Essentials and Advanced; hourly scans with instant alerts on Ultimate
- Supports IAB TCF and Google Consent Mode v2, with a 14-day money-back guarantee
What could be better
- Above 5,000 page views the free plan’s banner is switched off for the rest of the month
- Free and Essentials allow one language only, and the terms generator needs Advanced (€19.99 per month on yearly billing)
- It neither generates nor checks an imprint, and it does not check e-shop duties such as withdrawal information
- The vendor’s own pages disagree on VAT treatment, on the overage fee and on the clause limit of the free plan
- Pricing is per website, and every plan below Ultimate carries iubenda branding
06Verdict
Our score: 7.1/10Very good
If you need to create missing documents and a consent banner in many languages from one account, iubenda is the strongest option. Its free scanner gives a reasonable first impression, yet it looks at fewer areas than LegisCheck, ties its findings less clearly to legal sources and skips the imprint and e-shop duties.
Best for: Small and mid-sized companies that want missing policies, terms and a consent banner, in several languages, from a single account.
