Review/Legal-text generators + website scanner (Germany)/No. 8 of 10

eRecht24 review

Berlin legal-text platform offering free imprint and privacy policy generators alongside a website scanner.

In this article

Based in Berlin, eRecht24 GmbH & Co. KG was founded in the 1990s by the lawyer Sören Siebert and runs a German platform for legal texts and website compliance. Its free generators create an imprint (Impressum) and a privacy policy, and a free website scanner reads the page source for tools and plugins that require consent and checks whether the privacy policy is up to date. Other free tools test Google Fonts, the withdrawal button and accessibility against WCAG. Premium membership begins at €15 a month (Basic, presented as a 50% discount linked to annual payment) and adds a consent tool, five projects, an update service and partner seals.

01In detail

Behind eRecht24 is eRecht24 GmbH & Co. KG in Berlin, set up in the 1990s by the lawyer Sören Siebert. In Germany it is known above all for its free imprint (Impressum) and privacy policy generators, which can be used anonymously and output PDF and HTML; the English versions come with the paid membership.

The free Website Scanner reads a page’s source code and reports which critical tools and plugins are embedded, whether they require consent and whether the privacy policy is current. It recognises keywords, and the vendor’s FAQ lists tools that may trigger false positives, among them Matomo, PayPal and Vimeo. Checks of the imprint, HTTPS or a cookie inventory are not described on the scanner page. Further free tools cover Google Fonts, the statutory withdrawal button and AI use, and a WCAG-oriented accessibility scanner delivers its report once an e-mail address is entered.

Premium membership brings a consent tool, a project manager with step-by-step guides, an update service on legal changes, and partner seals for websites and social media. Basic includes five projects and 125,000 consent-tool sessions per project per month. Business adds a terms and conditions generator, protection against cease-and-desist letters (Abmahnschutz), an initial consultation with a lawyer and an accessibility statement generator; Lawyer hours and an external data protection officer come with Enterprise and Ultimate.

On the membership page, Basic is shown at €15 a month, Business at €40, Enterprise at €90 and Ultimate at €800, each as half of a struck-through price and tied to annual payment. The page makes no statement on VAT and contradicts itself on whether Basic includes Abmahnschutz. Monthly memberships renew each month and can be cancelled at any time, and no free trial is published. The service targets German law and is offered in German.

For a German website, eRecht24 is a handy toolbox: free imprint and privacy texts, a number of quick free checks, and legal support in the higher tiers.

06Verdict

Our score: 6.1/10Good

For a German website, eRecht24 is a handy toolbox: free imprint and privacy texts, a number of quick free checks, and legal support in the higher tiers. Beyond Germany it has little to offer, and its keyword-based scanner gives less evidence per result than checkers that load the page in a browser.

Best for: Operators of German websites who need an imprint, privacy policy and terms under German law, plus a quick free scan.
